Roof leak repairs in Melbourne

If water is coming in, call us. We get up there, find where it is actually getting in, show you the photos and fix the cause, on tile and metal roofs.

  • Free inspection and written quote
  • Fully insured
  • Melbourne roofing since 2003

The stain is not where the leak is

A roof leak rarely shows up where it starts. Water gets in under a cracked tile, a lifted flashing or a blocked valley, runs along the roof structure, and comes through the ceiling somewhere else. That is why sealing the spot above the stain so often does nothing.

So the first job is finding it. We get on the roof, check the usual trouble spots and photograph what we find so you can see it for yourself. You get the photos and a written quote before any work starts.

Where roof leaks usually start

  • Cracked, broken or slipped tiles
  • Ridge capping where the bedding and pointing has broken down
  • Valleys that are blocked with leaves or rusted through
  • Flashings around chimneys, skylights, vents and walls
  • Rusted metal sheets and loose fixings
  • Blocked or sagging gutters that push water back under the eave

One leak or a tired roof?

If it is one fault, we repair it. If the whole roof has gone porous and the pointing is failing everywhere, a roof restoration usually works out better than chasing one leak after another. We tell you which one you are looking at on the inspection. For broken tiles and ridge capping see tile roof repairs, and for damage after wind or hail see storm damage repairs.

A leaking roof does not wait, so neither do we

If water is getting in, or a storm has lifted tiles or sheeting, we get up there quickly and find the entry point before it moves into your ceilings, insulation and framing.

We inspect it quicklyLeaks and storm damage go to the front of the list. We get on the roof, find where the water is actually coming in, and show you the photos.
Before the damage spreadsA stain on the ceiling is water that has already been inside for a while. The longer it runs, the more of the plaster, insulation and timber it takes with it.
Repaired, not painted overWe fix the cause rather than sealing the symptom, and you get the photographs and a written quote before any work starts.

Called after a storm when water was coming through the ceiling. They responded quickly, made the roof safe, and came back to complete the permanent repairs. Fantastic service and communication.

Six signs your roof is asking for attention

None of these mean you need a new roof. They do mean it is worth having someone up there before the next Melbourne downpour finds the weak spot first.

  • Ceiling stains or bubbling paintWater is already inside. The entry point is almost never directly above the mark.
  • Mortar crumbs in the guttersThe ridge capping bedding is breaking down and the caps are on their way loose.
  • Moss and dark streakingThe tile surface has gone porous and is holding water instead of shedding it.
  • Cracked or slipped tilesOne tile out of line lets wind driven rain straight under the course above.
  • Gutters overflowing in rainBlocked or sagging gutters push water back under the eave and into the fascia.
  • Rust spreading on metal sheetsOnce it eats through a pan, patching buys months rather than years.
