Roof painting in Melbourne

A roof only holds paint if the work underneath is done first. We clean it back, fix the tiles and pointing, then put on a sealer and two coats of roof membrane in the colour you pick.

Paint is the last step, not the whole job

Painting over a dirty roof with loose capping and cracked tiles only hides the problems. Nothing gets coated by us until the roof underneath it is sound.

So we do it in order. The roof is pressure cleaned back to bare tile, broken tiles are replaced, and the ridge capping is bedded and repointed. Only then does the sealer go on, followed by two coats of roof membrane.

You pick the colour. Some people stay close to what was there, and plenty use it as the chance for a change, like taking tired cement tile to a deep charcoal.

What roof painting includes

  • A high pressure clean back to bare tile, taking off moss, lichen and grime
  • Broken and slipped tiles replaced before any coating goes on
  • Ridge capping bedded and fully repointed with flexible pointing
  • A sealer coat to lock the surface down
  • Two coats of roof membrane in the colour you pick
  • A final look over the finished roof

Roof painting or roof restoration?

Done properly they are the same job. What most people call roof painting is the last stage of a roof restoration, and a completed restoration carries our 10 year workmanship warranty in writing. If your roof is past painting, we tell you, and talk you through a replacement instead.

Four stages, and you see every one

The same process on every restoration, whether it is a small unit or a double storey family home.

InspectionWe get up on the roof, photograph what we find and show you. If it does not need doing, we tell you that too.

Questions we get asked

Yes. A restoration finishes with two coats of roof membrane in the colour you pick, so a tired cement tile roof can come back as a deep charcoal, for example.

It depends on the size of the roof, the pitch, the access and how much tile replacement and repointing it needs, so a number quoted over the phone is a guess. What you get from us is a written estimate after we have been up there and seen it, and that estimate is what you pay.

A typical house restoration runs across several days: clean, repair and repoint, then seal and coat. Weather moves it, because coating a wet roof is a waste of everyone's money. We give you the schedule up front and tell you the moment it changes.

Yes, we are fully insured, with proper safety gear and the paperwork sorted before anyone gets on your roof. The 10 year workmanship warranty is for completed restorations, and you get it in writing.
